I think it would be possible to reduce the RandomTickSpeed. This would slow down growth, for example, for watermelon farms or other farms. Then it would be possible to increase the money received for, say, watermelons, which would improve server performance because watermelons or other things would grow more slowly.
Fewer drops, much easier on the server, and the increased shop prices will please players in a placebo way. I really think it's possible to implement.
