Not a bad idea at all. I should have some thoughts on how to implement it
Blocks cannot be destroyed, players would be very unhappy. Everything related to monsters requires a lot of resources. Spawning monsters and then somehow controlling them (creating pathfinding and AI for them) would take way too much time with very little benefit. At this moment, it's better to focus on systems that don't require as many resources and will be easily accessible and understandable to everyone.
