I made a platform below level 40, and no matter how much I expand the island, slime chunks keep appearing. I've played before and there weren't this many back then.
So the thought is, if it's possible to do, that in your island settings you could adjust their appearance, well, reduce it. Because I think there are more people who like to build farms at the bottom.
Unfortunately, such a possibility cannot be implemented. Minecraft itself chooses when to spawn which mob, and I cannot control that.

And is it impossible to do with code like you do zones, where you select that in those places mob spawning would be removed altogether?
